At Terranova: we work at the nexus between business and public policy. More than consultants, we are partners in business, international investment and development, with a special albeit non- exclusive focus on Africa, Northern Asia and Southern Europe.
We help our partners to overcome the obstacles in their international investment and development goals, by finding opportunities and creating competitive advantage. Since our creation, we have become a partner of choice for international organisations, public institutions, Fortune 500 companies and small private firms alike, working at the crosshairs of business and government affairs.
Terranova draws upon the experience of its founder and CEO, Valérie Terranova, and her experience in the management of international projects gained from working for 20 years with France's highest authorities and since 2007 as advisory to a wide range of public and private stakeholders.
Valérie Terranova - Founder and CEO
A graduate of France’s National Institute for Oriental Languages and Civilizations (Inalco) and a former visiting scholar at the Institute of Advanced Studies of National Defence (IHEDN), Valérie began her career working for the Paris municipality in the Office of the Mayor where she quickly rose to become chargé de mission in the international division and then director of the representative office of the city of Paris in Tokyo. In 1996, she was appointed Commissioner-General tasked with the organisation of the ‘Year of France in Japan’, a multi-stakeholder initiative aimed at changing the perception of France in Japan. She subsequently served as special advisor in the office of President Jacques Chirac, from 1999 to 2007, where she took the lead on a range of multi-stakeholders programs and projects between France and several emerging countries in Asia, South America and Africa, before deciding to run her own consultancy company.
Our team constantly works to propose tailored solutions for our clients and partners. In respect of the rules of compliance and discretion, we lay the groundwork for success by:
Providing intelligence (what’s the environment, the competition, mapping of the actors, the challenges in the sector/country…)
Putting together a strategy (right messaging, build positive environment, how to overcome hurdles…)
Facilitating operations (identification of best local partners, organisation of meetings, assisting in negotiations, risk assessments, logistics arrangements…)
Since its creation, Terranova has provided strategic counsel to a range of public and private institutions such as Shanghai Universal exhibition organisation committee, Tokyo Olympics candidature committee, Japanese top 5 trading company, world’s top 5 biggest energy utility company, French fast growing investment fund, French long term investment public fund, Japanese top 5 public work company, Japanese top 3 financial services company, worlds’ top 5 car manufacturer, Morocco’s capital goods and industrial supplies leader, World Health Organisation, among others…

Operating in different cultural environments can prove extremely challenging. Building on our rich experience in intercultural dialogue, we provide advice on how best to adjust approaches and tactics as well as develop strategies to ensure that efforts yield effective and long-lived gains.
No two countries are alike. Companies need to grasp the specific political and institutional logics that shape the regulatory environment and inspire local business decisions. Thanks to our in-depth experience of the political and institutional worlds, we can help adjusting to local conditions, save time and avoid missteps. We think glocal.
The ever-changing dynamics of power as well as the economic relationships between developed and emerging economies are increasingly hard to understand. Keeping an eye on innovation, we constantly monitor the economic and political landscape with a view of detecting major trends and identifying investment opportunities.
